Ms. Bernie O’Flaherty
Bernie has completed a four year Post Graduate Diploma in Gestalt Therapy with the Gestalt Institute of Ireland and recently completed a Masters Programme in Gestalt Therapy in Carlow IT.
She is an accredited member with The Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychology (IAHIP). Prior to joining Oakwood she was part of the counselling team in UL for the past two years.
Bernie’s approach is humanistic and integrative. She believes by creating a non judgmental safe environment and providing support a client can find the courage to explore difficult emotions and learn to undo old patterns of behaviour that are no longer effective. Focusing on awareness and process, and trusting the wisdom that one inherently has in their body and mind allows the client to become more integrated and responsible, resulting in richer personal contact, leading them to independence and wholeness.
Bernie is also trained in ASIST ( Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training).
