
Mariah Hassett
Mariah is a fully accredited member of the IACP (Irish Association for Counseling and Psychotherapy). She received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Utah in 2012 and then obtained her Masters of Science Degree in Human Development and Family Studies with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Purdue University Calumet in Indiana in 2014.
Mariah has worked with clients in a variety of settings including an in-patient psychiatric and substance abuse detox hospital, private practice, and community mental health organizations. She is comfortable working with individuals of all ages, and believes in creating an individualized person centered treatment plan and treatment environment based on the goals of the individual presenting for treatment. Mariah is comfortable working within a variety of different treatment styles including but not limited to CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy), SFBT (solution-focused behavioral therapy), EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), and family systems theories.
Mariah works with a variety of presenting issues including anxiety, general stress, behavioral issues, depression, codependency, divorce or separation, parenting and coparenting, difficulty with emotional regulation, family conflict, social skills, self-esteem issues, life transitions, peer relationships, self-harm and trauma and PTSD. Mariah works comfortably with individuals, couples, and families presenting for treatment. She is trained in EMDR and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and works well with children adolescents and adults recovering from recent and resurfacing traumatic incidents.
Mariah is a qualified marriage and family therapist, and is ready to help your family develop and strengthen important skills such as establishing and reinforcing healthy boundaries, connecting through vulnerability and sharing, supporting each other through difficult times, among other vital skills. Developing these skills within the family can help to manage family conflict, behavior problems, emotional disconnectedness, addiction, emotional enmeshment, among many other presenting concerns. It is important for Mariah to work with your family to understand the system and help to develop a personalized treatment plan for any presenting families.
