
Ita Kennedy
Ita is a humanistic integrative therapist, meaning that she places great importance on respecting and valuing the client, while integrating knowledge from various schools of psychotherapy including cognitive behavioural, person-centred and acceptance and commitment therapies. She incorporates mindfulness and relaxation techniques into her work as appropriate. Ita has achieved an honours degree in counselling and psychotherapy from PCI College and an MSc. in Biomedical Science from the University of Ulster. She has also completed additional training in working with trauma, the therapeutic use of mindfulness, menopause and ASIST suicide prevention training.
In 2023, Ita developed a low-cost counselling service for the community and prior to this, Ita worked as a psychotherapist in Limerick Social Service Centre. She also worked with Focus Ireland as a befriender. Ita has interests in art, nature, creative writing and music and incorporates them into therapy as appropriate.
Ita works with individuals over the age of 18 on issues such as stress/anxiety, trauma, work-related stress, depression, relationships, bereavement, addiction, loneliness, family issues and self-esteem.
