
Dr. Declan Aherne

Declan is a registered clinical psychologist and counselling psychologist with the psychological society of Ireland (PSI). Declan is a fully trained gestalt therapist having graduated from the Irish Gestalt centre in 1992 and he is a registered psychologist specialising in psychotherapy through the European federation of psychological EFPA). Declan has been working in mid-west for the past 28 years both in private practice and also as Head of Counselling at the university of Limerick. Declan is a founding Director of Oakwood psychological services and shares the running of this practice with his wife, Jo. Declan has published and presented both nationally and internationally on a variety of topics and has a special interest in the importance of a psychologically based primary care mental health service.
